Setting Up MMS On Android
I have had my G1 for quite some time. When I first got it I added the APN settings for basic Internet. Over the last 2 days I have received 2 mms’s I kept getting “Failed to download” oops I had forgotten to set up the MMS proxy settings.
How to get there; Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> (Select One or create one via Menu->Add APN)
Correct APN settings:
Vodacom:
Name: Vodacom Internet
APN: Internet
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
UserName: Leave Blank
MMSC: Leave Blank
MMS Proxy: 196.6.128.13 (I had it as mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za but this doens’t work)
MMS Port: 8080
MMC: 655
MNC: 01
APN Type: Leave Blank
MTN(I haven’t tested these but they should work):
Name: Internet
APN: Internet
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
UserName: Leave Blank
MMSC: Leave Blank
MMS Proxy: 196.11.240.241
MMS Port: 8080
MMC: 655
MNC: 01
APN Type: Leave Blank
Hope this at least helps some one.
the MTN MNC is 10 – not 01 (thanks for the details otherwise)
Hi,
Just to clarify, do you only have one APN setting with internet and mms settings?
Got a G1 and cant get it to work with vodacom MMS
These are the settings that came with my device (Vodacom South Africa, HTC Magic)
Name Vlive! Vlive!MMS
APN vlive mms.vodacom.net
Proxy 196.6.128.12
Port 8080
Username
Password
Server
MMSC http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
MMS proxy 196.6.128.13
MMS port 8080
MCC 655 655
MNC 1 1
APN type default mms
Try that again…
Name: Vlive!
APN: vlive
Proxy: 196.006.128.012
Port: 8080
MCC: 655
MNC: 1
APN type: default
Try that again…
Name: Vlive!MMS
APN: mms.vodacom.net
MMSC: http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
MMS proxy: 196.6.128.13
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 655
MNC: 1
APN type: mms
Settings left out are left
@Hasan: Thanks for the information I did’t know they offered Vlive on Android packages.
Ps that is because you are on of the very select few that get their traffic proxied via the very nice super great amazing Vlive proxy that is.
that was sarcasm.
I am really not a fan of the Vlive content adaption they like to do. I hope they don’t try and adapt content to fit the androids screen.

But the best thing is there was a bug with their proxies that allowed different people to “steal” eachothers headers and cookies and such login as different people can some one say #fail
Hi,
I have a magic with vodacom, I did put in your settings and 3G work fine and I can receive MMS’s but it doesn’t want to send MMS’s.
Please help!
Thanks
Thanks so much. I’m setting up a new HUAWEI Android phone. The APN settings for MTN worked perfectly.
